About Bertha von Suttner Private University
Visit Official WebsiteNamed in honor of Austrian peace pioneer and first female Nobel Peace Prize laureate Bertha von Suttner (1843–1914), the Bertha von Suttner Private University (Bertha von Suttner Privatuniversität St. Pölten — BSU) was founded in 2018 as an accredited private university in Lower Austria. Centered at the modern, expanded Campus St. Pölten (located just 30 minutes by high-speed rail from Vienna), BSU is uniquely dedicated to the human sciences, focusing on psychosocial interventions, psychotherapy, psychology, social work, inclusive education, and organizational transformation. The university's mission is guided by a humanistic, participatory ethos addressing the societal challenges of the 21st century: demographic shifts, mental health vulnerability, social inclusion, and the transformation of the working world. All degree courses are designed with high flexibility, featuring modular block structures, hybrid digital learning, and weekend sessions that allow professionals to pursue academic degrees concurrently with active careers in healthcare, social services, and public administration. Through its dedicated in-house university outpatient clinic (UniAmbulanz Psychotherapie und Soziale Arbeit), BSU bridges cutting-edge academic research with immediate therapeutic and psychosocial care for the regional population.
