About Duksung Women's University
Visit Official WebsiteDuksung Women's University (덕성여자대학교, DSGWU) is a historic private women's research university situated in northern Seoul, South Korea. Tracing its origins to 1920 with the establishment of the Geunhwa Women's School (근화여학교) by pioneering educator, independence activist, and feminist leader Cha Mirisa (차미리사), Duksung holds a unique place in Korean modern history as an institution founded entirely by a female independence activist using purely grassroots Korean capital, free from Japanese colonial backing or foreign missionary support. Evolving into Duksung Women's College in 1950 and attaining comprehensive university status in 1987, Duksung is widely celebrated for its prestigious College of Pharmacy, early childhood education, fine arts and textile design, and its progressive adoption of an open, non-major undergraduate curriculum.
