About Liverpool Hope University
Visit Official WebsiteLiverpool Hope University is a public liberal arts and research university located in Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England. Its rich educational heritage traces back to 1844 and 1856 with the founding of two pioneering teacher training colleges: Warrington Training College (Anglican) and Our Lady’s Training College, Mount Pleasant (Roman Catholic). In 1980, under the inspirational guidance of the Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, David Sheppard, and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool, Derek Worlock, the two colleges united to establish the Liverpool Institute of Higher Education (LIHE). Awarded full university title in 2005, Liverpool Hope holds a historic position in European academia as Europe's only ecumenical university foundation, welcoming students of all faiths and none. The university operates across two contrasting, complementary environments: the leafy, collegiate village of Hope Park in Childwall and the vibrant Creative Campus in Everton, alongside its dedicated residential enclave at Aigburth Park and the Plas Caerdeon Outdoor Education Centre in Eryri National Park, North Wales. Liverpool Hope is renowned for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and PGCE pedagogy, theology and religious studies, liberal arts, AACSB-accredited business education, sports rehabilitation, and creative music performance with official All-Steinway School status.
