New Design University (NDU Privatuniversität) is an accredited private university established in 2004 in St. Pölten, Lower Austria. Founded by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKNÖ) and its vocational training institute (WIFI), NDU is an international boutique university built at the interface of design, technology, craftsmanship, and business. Operating under the motto "Normal ist gefährlich" (Standard is dangerous), NDU offers small, studio-based cohorts with an intimate 1:10 staff-to-student ratio and direct industry integration. Located in the modern WIFI / technology center campus in St. Pölten (25 minutes from Vienna via high-speed Westbahn), the university features specialized prototyping workshops, digital fabrication labs, woodworking and metal studios, laser cutting, 3D printing facilities, photo and sound recording studios, and open-plan design ateliers.
