About University of Prince Edward Island
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), located in the picturesque provincial capital of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, is a respected public liberal arts and research-intensive university established in 1969 through the historic amalgamation of Prince of Wales College (founded 1834) and St. Dunstan's University (founded 1855). UPEI serves approximately 5,500 students from more than 90 countries on an energetic, self-contained 140-acre campus. The university is celebrated for its tight-knit academic community, accessible world-class faculty, experiential learning opportunities, and world-renowned professional faculties—most notably the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), one of only five veterinary medicine colleges across Canada. In addition to Veterinary Medicine, UPEI features innovative faculties in Arts, Science, Business, Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE), Nursing, Education, and Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS). International graduates at UPEI enjoy access to affordable tuition, safe and supportive campus living, and full eligibility for Canada's Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) pathways.
